does it matter what kind? I've always pictured using white sand but we have some red sand that we were going to spread on the lawn, will that work for a chicken run also? Thanks!

I used river sand in my coop and run. Bought it from a landscape contractor type place, the type of place that sells, mulch, dirt, etc. It is darker and has several different sizes of small rocks that I use as my grit....

In my leveling for my coop I use normal play sand. Any type should be suitable- just make sure of it's origin.
