I'm proposing an idea.
Some really are not looking for birds whose last 30 or more generations of selection were in, essentially, a factory such as any of the major hatcheries. They want birds bred by people raising them outdoors, perhaps free range, even better in a lineage probably going back to farm birds or individuals raising and breeding for meat, eggs, or both.
Sand Hill may not always have that but it's a closer source for sure than is getting your birds from Tractor Supply, etc.
There are many who have birds from Sand Hill, and surely many who have true heritage (not just grabbing a heritage name like a hatchery "Blue Andalusian" for example) birds, but it's hard to find each other.
Some may have birds or eggs they would be happy to sell or trade, or could point to an excellent but Internet-unfindable small breeder.
For example, I've "had" to cull an absolutely beautiful White Leghorn rooster that could have been exactly what someone nearby might need, and soon will with some Black Leghorns.
Perhaps people keeping and breeding such birds could, informally, have a "club" here where we share info and perhaps point to trades or sales in the appropriate forum.
Cock-eyed idea??
