    Has anyone ordered this selection?
    Super Assortments

Please don't confuse this with the General Assorted. Super assorted is for the person who would like as many different breeds as possible. A list of breeds is enclosed in the envelope taped to the outside of the shipping box. You may order these for any of the regular season hatches. However, these are the last boxes filled on each hatch day and are subject to availability of extra day-olds. Prices below do not include the cost of postage. Please give as much flexibility as possible with shipping dates for these assortments. Please refer to the postage chart in the Poultry Ordering Information page.
Super Assorted Bantams: 25 for $40.00
    Super Assorted Chicks: 25 for $27.50; 50 for $50.00

I was curious what kind of selection you received. Sounds like fun.

Can you specify pullets? Sounds like a box of roosters waiting to happen.

I dont think you can order pullets. Most of it I know are straight run.

If you contact them, you should be able to find out if it is straight run.

Do they sell sexed birds? If they do, I would be expecting a lot of roosters in that box if what you are getting is the leftovers that didn't sell and if they are not putting the words "straight run" in the description.

Web site says they only sell straight run. They don't sex.

Sandhill sells only strait run chicks, so you should count on an average of half roos. Last year they had some predator issues that led to them not being able to send all the chicks I requested. They filled the rest of the order with what ended up being a mini-super assortment, and only charged me for the ones I had actually ordered. They are great people to work with, but don't expect quick responses to your enquiries, they are very very busy people and get back to you as soon as they can. I have found their birds to be healthy and hardy, moslty laying quality but with a few really good individuals in every batch I have ordered. I have an order placed with them for Jaerhons and Dorkings for this spring.

At the listed price, if I wind up with the average 50% roos, it sounds like I will be in good shape. Thanks for the help 1muttsfan.
