These ladies are 14 weeks old. Are they for sure sapphire gems? That’s what the country store sold then as but one is a lot darker!

My first three sapphire gems were all different hues of “blue”. Here is a picture of my Gemma at about that age. She was my darkest. Sadly a hawk got her just a few weeks after she started laying. Your other one looks like my Penny.

Ugh. I bought 3 Sapphire Gem pullets from TS...1 is a SG hen, 1 is a SG Cockerel, and 1 is a sure enough Austrolorp. They're all 23 weeks old...no eggs. It's like watching a lot trying to come to a boil.

6 months later...I gave my SG rooster to my best friend. He's HUGE, beautiful, and way too aggressive for my taste. My Austrolorp and SG hens are decent layers, but not as good as my Rhode Island Red. My SG just went thru her first bout of broodiness. She skipped laying for a couple of weeks, made lots of funny noises, stayed in the nesting box (til I blocked it off), and was really hot on her underbelly. All is good now tho. Here's a pic of the difference in eggs. That's an RIR egg, SG egg, then Austrolorp on right.

Your birds are so pretty! I’m curious now if that is what I have? They were sold as Olive Egger pullets.
