We have an adorable silkie who has gone broody... but the egg collectors didn’t get the memo! All of her eggs were snatched up, but she’s been kindly taking on the eggs of her Lavender Orpington BFF each day. She’s now sitting on a couple of fertile eggs! Does anyone have experience with a satin (silkie) rooster over a lav. Orpington hen? The rooster is quite distinctive- he was hatched from a shipped egg that was from a ‘mixed silkie/satin show pen’. He’s got blue ears and gorgeous coloring!

Chicks will be black with some silver or gold leakage. Cockerel chicks could also have leakage in his yellowish (silver/gold split) coloring. They will carry the lavender gene but not express it.
