Hi guys - does this look like scaly leg mites? I posted in another group but I’d like a second opinion.

I am having some trouble with my sweet Roo, Odin...he is 9 months old and going through what I think is his first molt (we’ve been having a very weird winter here in Alberta 🇨🇦) and today I noticed one of his feet has slightly swollen, cracked toes and he’s picking the skin off of them. No blood, but he does appear to be favouring the foot a bit.

We checked his skin and saw no signs of lice or mites. His leg scales are normal everywhere else. He’s eating, drinking, and doing his thing with the ladies.

Any ideas on how I can help him?

Thank you from this first-time chicken tender! 🐓

In the third picture he appears to be in excellent condition - in the first picture he looks feather pecked/plucked. His girls may be working him over. I do not believe it is scaly leg mites.

Thanks for your response! Any chance he’s just molting? I’m going to take a closer look at everything tomorrow in the daylight.
