Hi there. Loretta our Americauna started laying recently. The only thing is from about 6-11am she has become extremely vocal. She sounds like a screeching pterodactyl! I'm afraid our neighbors are ready to kill us. Any one else have any issues with this?

Some hens like to bauk and make noises when laying an egg, I had an Australorp who who who would make loud noises once in a while for laying an egg.

She's proud and wants to show off! [IMG]How about keeping her locked in the coop until she calms down?

    Thank you for your responses
She must be extremely proud! She usually stays in until mid afternoon and let out once she's calmed:)

One of our chickens seems to be making strange strange noises today. It's like a muted version of her normal chit chat with spurts of a squeezing noise. Could this be a respitory infection? Any thoughts?
She is still drinking and eating heartily
