I have an 11 week old hen that seems to have injured her leg. I went out on Thursday morning to open up the hen house and she was limping. She is also "panting" like she is in pain. I initially confined her to a large tub and made her comfortable. She rested quietly most of the day but got anxious in the evening when I tried to cover her box with screens to keep her from flying out. I moved her back out to the henhouse but she is in "isolation". She flies up to roost at night and spends the day in the straw bedding. She is eating and drinking. What else should I do for her? Does it sound like her leg is broken? I can't feel anything abnormal but then again I don't have x-ray vision! Any suggestions?

If she can still move the leg she's limping on, thats a good sign. She may have got it caught or stepped on by something. If that's the case, a few days of cage rest should help.
