Went to the Big R to get silkies for my son. They were gone when we got there, but he really wanted a few chicks. So this is what came home. Remember I only went in for three.

Two buff orpingtons

They came from the blue andelusion tub, but they sure aren't blue.
Does anyone know? Maybe splash?

I've never had wyandotte's before, so maybe I am wrong or they are not good quality. It doesn't really matter, they are too cute to send back now.

Yep, you have exactly two to the third power, or two cubed. I did the exact same thing!

Was going to have three chickens.

Ordered 6 sex link layer pullets to pick up from the hatchery on March 11th,

Saw chicks in bin at feed store Feb 23rd:
Bought 4 (Welsummers I found out).

Went to get more chick supplies a week later,
Saw chicks in bin again for only $1 each:
Bought 4 more black & white (BR) ...

Went to get more chick food yesterday & saw a single buff pullet orph left in bin.
Bought buff and a New hampshire pullet so I could have gold chicks.

Now I'm the crazy chick mom with 3 brooder boxes!

Now I have 10 chicks from the feed store, and 4 more from the local hatchery (after changing my order) which I'm picking up on tuesday!

My husband says he's either going to eat 2/3 of them or build me a bigger coop.
I really thought since I'm a newbie some wouldn't make it past the first week, but I was wrong.

Must be all the good advice you all give me here.
I've learned too many chicks come to those who can't wait!

Thanks!
Teddi

Here's my babies!
