Hi, folks. I'm writing an article about the issue of declining egg production in older hens. I'm looking for some quotable folks who have elderly chickens, preferably in Portland.

My angle is that most backyard chicken ranchers won't be willing to butcher, so that there's going to be an oversupply of geriatric backyard chickens, and an undersupply of egg production.

I'd love to TALK to some folks by phone -- is it ok forum etiquette to post my number? 503.238.1799.

    Thanks in advance!

My brother lives in Portland and has had chickens for a few years .. I am sure butchering is NOT an option . His hen got attacked by something and he rode his bike cross town with Jersey in a box to the only vet willing to see a chicken [IMG]. I will pass on your info to him .
