Hello everyone!! Has anyone tried developing there own ‘breed’ of duck? I’m interested in trying to breed a Mallard Indian Runner, or if that fails and they’re too small a miniature Mallard Indian Runner. I know that when breeding ducks carry body type, and drakes bill and feet colour. And if you want to make an official breed, the ducks must not show any different colour or body type in at least 5 generations (which I know won’t happen).

What crossbreds have you guys bred? And if you have please feel free to upload a pic. Looking forward to see all the different coloured, shaped and sized ducks.

Only hybrid I have made was a Rouen to a Pekin. Rouen hens X Pekin drake.

IME, the drake's bill color did not pass to any of the offspring, he has a yellow/orange bill and 2 of his kids have a dark blue bill and three have greenish yellow bills. The moms have brown bills. They do have the dad's orange feet though but the mom's kinda had orangish feet too.
Ignore the Buff ducks, the hybrids are the darke brown ones.
Here are the parents.

In this video you will see my Muscovy x mallard (Mule) at the start of the video. His name is Sumo.

Also the white tall drake is some crossbred I ended up with. I have sold his parents and one of his sisters (at least I think it was). That Indian runner looking duck you see near the white mallard duck and the natural mallard is probably what started the abnormally large mallard line. The first gen of the line were tall like that duck with the mallard colours, I had two ducks and a drake. Then they bred and some how produced a white which has much more of a softer and fluffier body like a Pekin.

Behold... My first trihybrid!

She looks just like her mom! (Cayuga/Blue Swedish cross) So far, she has the personality of a Pekin, but I'm hoping she'll be more like her mom than them. She has white markings on her chest and head and a few spots on her back. Her mom had the same chest marking, but it disappeared into black when her feathers came in. I (obviously) don't know if she's a hen or a drake yet, but fingers crossed...

I haven't done crosses of ducks with markings before (only once before actually, I'll talk about him further down), but with solid, there are obvious conclusions to be made. Pekin coat is recessive to Cayuga coat and mallard-like markings (I've gone through and looked at others' hybrids). I've actually been wondering, since some people breed two completely markinged hybrids and get a full Pekin coat in return, is the Pekin coat some form of albinism? They have light feathers, skin, eyes, and beaks/feet. Also, a hybrid I've gotten before between a cream and white magpie runner drake and a blue swedish drake turned out to be a perfect mix of the two. He was white, but his markings were cream and blue and they were a more solid magpie pattern. I'm sure all of this is already known/documented, but it's just things I've personally observed.
