I was wondering if anyone has or has tried to sell Chicken Manure?
I was cleaning the poop board the other day and noticed how dry it all was so I decided to start to bag it up and see how much I get and how quickly. If I'm able to get enough of it I plan on putting an ad on Craigslist to see if I can sell any to supplement my egg money.
I get feed in 20lb bags that are very thick plastic with a ziploc closure, so I'm now in the process of refilling one of these bags to see how long it takes. From what I've gathered so far it looks like it will take two bags of feed to recover one bag of manure from the poop boards, the rest is lost to the conversion and daytime poops that are not collected from the poop boards.
If I can gather enough I was thinking that fall would be a good time to try and sell it to be turned into a garden in the fall and left till spring.
After I get one bag full, I'll put up an ad on CL and see what kind of responses i get, I can always say "sorry it's all sold out" if I get inundated with requests. If I do get inundated with requests, that will tell me that there is a market and I need to charge more for it.
so has anyone else tried this?
