I bought 2 golden comets last week without really checking them out thoroughly. My son loved them so we got 'em. Anyway when we got home I found that both wings on both birds had been clipped really far back. Will these feathers grow back after molting, or are they gone for good?

They'll grow back the next time they molt. It's done so they can't fly. Not a stupid question at all. If feathers are plucked they immediantly grow back, if they're cut you have to wait until the bird molts.
