So I was looking for duck harnesses when I see service bird uniform. I can see a bird getting you stuff because their really smart but they have diseases, what if they poo on your food or whatever they bring you. What my main question is are they like seeing eye dogs where they lead you around and if so HOW? Their so small. But it was cute to see birds dressed up in service bird uniforms

sorry wanted to use NEW smilies

I don't think ducks can be trained like seeing eye dogs
even if hand reared a duck would not understand if you asked it to fetch the paper or take you to the kitchen to make a cuppa tea!
Funny thoughts though

The new ADA rules disallow all animals except dogs (and a particular type of monkey for full quadriplegics).
The current service horses once retired will not be replaced by horses.

'Companion animals' (any animal that is just by it's presence therapeutic rather then being trained to mitigate a disability in two ways.) are not covered by the ADA.

too lazy to get the links but its at ADA.gov or something like that.

some states (CA comes to mind) have more lenient rules and will allow other animals to be service animals.
If the state law offers more rights (or local law in some cases), you can follow it, but be aware that if you are traveling that the ADA will be the most likely rule in another area.

State law, however, can not be MORE restrictive than the ADA. There are some cases going on right now regarding breed restrictions and service dogs.

Wow, well I thought it was strange, but ya it said 'service bird' might have been something else but

i must agree, a duck would never learn

Breed restrictions like "no kicki toy breeds" dogs or breed restrictions like in no X considered aggressive (German Sheppard) even though a service trained dog is not...???

like banned breeds. The one case I was reading the guy had a pit bull service dog and moved into an area where they were illegal. City confiscated his dog. I believe he won the court case and got his dog back.
Some areas ban German Shepherds, rotties, chows, etc.

I've heard of people using them a lot for hearing assistance. I can see how a parrot would be great for that.
