I will be setting some silkie eggs that are from when I went crazy Saturday morning and bought from "oldtimegator". The eggs were in the mail just a couple hours after I paypalled. I got them today.

Will be adding a few dutch eggs from the couple I have laying.

I have 2 Bantam Favorelle eggs from my Francine. I followed her for 4 hours yesterday in high humidity and 94 degree weather till she decided to lay. Luckily there was already 1 egg her hiding place.

Also a few of my bantam mutt eggs from my Peanut by Dot. They match and breed true. I guess I could call them my own 'special breed'. Peanut's grandmother is my avatar. I lost my precious Snickers 2 years ago. I have been saving these eggs. These were all I had intended to set till I saw the silkie auction. Might as well fill the King Suro up. I got a 85% hatchrate last time, but those were homegrown eggs.

Any hatchlings will go to a broody or 2. I have enough broodies on empty nests to raise a sportman full of eggs.

After a temp spike I lost my last batch, started a new one at midnight, so today (6/15) is day one.

I have blue & green eggs from my EEs, white from a splash, light brown from two blue mutts, and dark brown from Nutmeg... she looks like a D'Anver, but I'm sure she's a mutt, too. (She, the splash, and the blues hatched out of eggs from the farmer's market and she doesn't separate by breed.)

I put in a couple of our other mixes to round out a dozen, but I may sneak more in from the ones above tonight/tomorrow.

Happy hatching!

10 hatched, but lost 1 because I didn't move Dolly soon enough. I put 3 pipped eggs under her to hatch to make the adoption process easier. Another hen tried to push in a killed the little Dutch that had hatched.

The hatch started a full 24 hours early on the evening of day 19. 10 is not a bad hatch considering 14 eggs were shipped in 90+ weather and the eggs I had here were up to 2 weeks old and were sitting on my desk in this house with NO AC. I think the preheating is why they hatched a day early.

3 of the shipped silkie eggs hatched. 1 Black, 1 blue, and a splash. Not the best hatch, but enough to satisfy me. I never have much luck with summer shipped eggs, but couldn't resist the deal. I just hope that at least 2 are girls.

I will get pictures this evening. Dolly is off the nest and moving around in the broody box showing the little ones the food and water.
