Hatchery red sex links? Beards aren't usually present on those birds. Do you mean wattles? Or are your birds from a private breeder who could have made their own sex link cross?

    Pics would help.

That's what I was thinking, but there are breeds that have beards, so it was [IMG]

If they are hatchery red sex links, you can tell by the color. If they're basically reddish colored, especially on the breast, with white tips on the collar, wings and tail, they're female. If they're white/silver on the breast, they're male.

Sex links can mature pretty fast. I've had some start laying as soon as 16 weeks--shocked me! So it's not uncommon for them to start getting some comb at an earlier age.

But, pics are worth a thousand words and all that......

So, I don't think you have sex links. It looks like one pullet--the first bird, and two cockerels.

Your birds look like second generation sex links, basically red and white mixed breed birds. If they came from a private seller instead of a hatchery, I'm thinkng that's what you have.

They are second generation sex links, and I agree with you on the sex. Thank you.

For future information, second generation sexlinks are no longer sexlinks. They are mixed breeds, since the sex is no longer linked to the color.
