I'm supposed to have 6 hens: 2 Black sex links, 2 Barred Rocks, and 2 Easter eggers. They are 11 weeks old. Can anyone tell if I have a roo in this bunch?[IMG]

Nothing screaming male at this moment. Your darker barred rock does look a bit redder then the other so is suspicious.

All look female! But the supposed barred rock in the last picture isn't a BR. She has a beard. :)

I don't know if this is needed but to tell the gender of a chick is that you look at a chicks wing and the girls tip feathers won't be too much longer than her short feathers and the boys tip feathers will be much longer than the rest as seen here but it's a girl.[IMG]

That can only be done if the chick has the correct genetics - the father must be pure for slow feathering, mother must have two alleles for fast.

Then you either 1) have the correct parentage or 2) the 50-50 cockerel to pullet ratio comes in and you guess right.

No, not from that picture. How old is this chick? Wing sexing can only be done accurately in young chicks - think 2 days old or younger. Which parent was barred if it isn't pure?
