[IMG]I have a sex link frizzle _ mother is a frizzle and father a straight feather. Breeder I got her from says she's 99% certain its female because it is sex linked. My frizzle is 4 weeks old and has a large bright red comb and wattles. I'm dubious about the sex.
What is sex link and how can breeders be sure of the sex? I will try post a pic up.
    Thanks all

    That's a cockerel, 100%

I don't think the breeder is very well informed on sex linking for sure.

Sex-Linking is when you can determine the gender of chicks at time of hatch. Females will be one color, and males will be another. Or, females will feather in differently than the males. Sex-linking is very helpful because you immediately know whether a chick is a cockerel or pullet. But, it usually works over only one generation- if you cross two sex-linked birds, the offspring will rarely be sex-linked themselves.

You have a cockerel. The breeder unfortunately does not understand how sex links are created.

Best thread on explaining the basics of sex linkage

    https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/261208/sex-linked-information

Nothing in the frizzle gene is sex linked. And I don't care what else the breeder says, no pullet on earth, not even a Leghorn, is going to have that much red comb at this age. If you were guaranteed a pullet, return him and get another bird or a refund. With the breeder's lack of education, you may want to post pics of any supposed pullets you get before you commit to them.
