This light sussex is 9 weeks old now, it was the only 1 to hatch so i have no other to compare with. I have looked up the breed and browsed lots of pictures but can't figure out what it might be so hoping people on here might be able to help me. What do you think roo or pullet?

Thank you for the quick reply, what makes you say roo? I only ask because i want to learn and hopefully see what you are seeing to indicate roo.

I also say Roo. I have two 13 wk old pullets that barely have combs/wattles and what they do have aren't red.

Roo, Looks just like my light sussex did at that stage. Also the comb and wattles always seem to be more prominent at the age with the roos.

I was hoping it was a pullet as i am not sure if my neighbours will tolerate the noise from a roo. I really love this chick, he is really soft and placid and always comes to me when i go outside.

Quote:At this age it's the comb and wattles that tell me cockerel. Too red for it to be a pullet at 9 weeks.
