    Out to pasture
not a barred Rock, your chick is brown - BR's are black - before barring begins to show on the wings

Are both of these barred rocks? I was told the smaller one was a different breed at store. [IMG]

Usually you can see if a chick has male or female barring by about 4 weeks old.

If the younger chick has a white spot on the back of the head that it is likely either a Barred Rock, Dominique, or a Cuckoo Marans. Can't tell at this point which. The older chick is a Barred Rock pullet.

Yes white spot. I was thinking barred because it looks just like the older chick did a few weeks ago The other breeds you mentioned were not at store. I got a mixed bunch(1 of 2 of a few breeds).
