My white leghorns are aprox. 14 weeks old. Someone just pointed out to me the fact that they have spurs and must be roosters. I have done a little research and it seems that both sexes of white leghorns have that back toe/spur. Really only want hens how do I tell the difference?

By 14 weeks I think a leghorn roo would have a pretty big red comb. You can also look for pointy saddle feathers (in front of the tail over the back) or hackles (pointy feathers at the bottom of the neck). Or, post pictures and ask. [IMG]

Our leghorns showed very early who was what. The rooster's comb took off like crazy even when it was still yellow then turned red. Here are pictures of mine - I can't remember their age here but they are not fully feathered so pretty young.
If you post pictures then we can tell you more clearly.

pullet on the left, cockerel on the right (you can see that comb already)

Agreed. However, it is way too young to tell for sure.

Thankyou it's my first ever time of keeping hens and I was sold four chicks two white horns and two cream legbars however one leg bat chick died on my way home I think I was given false information about it's age as it was very small
