No spur bumps....hatched in June or July. Very friendly. I'm hoping for hens because then I'll have a three hens & one roo (and two more roos for sale!)

has me puzzled... kinda looks like a hen. but the long tail feathers, if i could see the hackles (neck feathers) or saddles (feathers before the tail) could be abl to tell easier,

Sumatras are slow to mature so it can be hard to be sure when they're young.
However, my advise is to keep two males not one. If you keep two & both are fine what are you out. If you keep only one & he dies what do you have?
 
Here is a pic of my black Sumatra Rooster, it may help you, he is only about 10 mo old.
