I have to frequently convince myself not to try anything new, because of having enough already, but when I think about chickens, I often remember doing sexed-linked projects in the past. What I didn't realize was that I could have used another red cockeral, including a BO. I am thinking on trying a BO with a BR pullet for extra meat with the roos and to do whatever with the pullets...probably sell most of them.
Have any of you tried this combination? Can you give me an idea of the size of the roos at slaughter age, as compaired to doing the same project with a RIR, as I have done in the past? I might just go ahead and get 6 or so BR pullets soon to have for next springs hatching of sex links. I can do a fairly mean business of selling chicks around Easter. I can probably do super if I can guarantee the sex. But it would be nice to have more meat coming off the roos.
