I have two 2 month old Double Laced Barnevelders. I believe #1 is a pullet and #2 is a rooster but I'd like to make sure. :)

They both look like pullets. Note the lack of comb and the rounded feathering

I'm actually leaning towards pullet on both of them.

They both look like girls to me as well. Just FYI, all barnevelders are "double laced." That is a requirement for the breed. You have a blue and a splash as they are a BBS gene base. Black is BB, blue is Bb (incomplete/codominant) and splash (or buff) is bb. But they all have red partridge pattern on top of that base. Unlike a blue-laced red wyandotte, which has a single lace over the BBS base and double lacing is considered a DQ. Anyhow... you have some very nice ladies there.

Thank you! I got them out of a batch of hatching eggs from a member on here. Of all the breeds I've had I've never had Barnevelders before. I wish I found the breed sooner! Their both as sweet as can be [IMG]

They both look wonderful. I have 2 chicks only a few days old. Yours look huge at 2 months, where are you keeping them? How did you house them while they grew?
Am new to this but have had 5 POL 18 months ago, they are fine and just hatched 3 different breeds over Easter.
    Thanks

Including 2 barnevelders (I should have added)
So it's the comb to look out for then!

Both have different colouring on their back feathers, shades of brown, only 2 weeks old so early days for sexing them.

    Lots info here, it's great
