Hello, so i have 8 chicks aged 2 months and i was wondering for tips on how to sex them. I have seen and read abot sexing them based on their tale feather shape. Is this reliable because if it is true i have a few hens but around 2 have "hen like feathers" yet they have combs and waddles. Although not so big neither so small it is pink. Soo any idea.
Thanks

I try to judge by the sheen on the feathers. A hen's feathers are dull or matte where a rooster's are shiny, glossy, or even greasy looking. This works well unless you're got a white chicken. The comb color is iffy but only because combs change between pink and red depending on temperature kind of hard to tell sometimes.

You don't say what type of comb birds you have.

So generally speaking and without comb type the ones with larger legs are male.
