how do you tell the diffrance from a hen to roo. on a RRed.
By 4 weeks, the comb on the cockerels would be larger and very pink, while the females combs will be much smaller and still flesh colored or just a hint of light pink.
What does RR stand for... Rhode island red? Also, depends on what age you are talking about that you are trying to sex. A few weeks old or a few months old?
these are rr mix at 12 weeks. Hens or roos? I have a buff and he crows but has a comb about lije these but slightly floppier.
They look like my full grown girls... I think their hens.
12 weeks? Both roosters
At 12 weeks of age they are both looking decidedly cockerelish -- that is a whole lot of red comb and wattle for a bird of that age.
The roo is on the right, these guys are 3 months ( found pics on forum )
So I change my call of hen to roo after looking at pictures....
Out of 12 chicks, i think 8 must be roos! Only one is crowing right now.
