i heard that if you feel around a hens vent for two pelvic bones, you have a female...is this ture? do males not have the same pelvic bones as females?

I did wonder this about chickens. prior to my 5 chicks, my bird experience was with parrots, cockatiels and such. We could sex them by the distance between their pelvic bones. Close together was a male and far apart was a female. not an exact science and it's much easier if you have several birds that you are comparing together. i have not heard or read here about anyone doing this with chickens and I have not felt my chicks for their bones
