My chicks are 5 weeks old. I can tell which of my Welsummers are boys vs. girls, but I'm not as sure of my Barnevelders. One of them has a significantly larger comb so I'm certain it is a cockerel. The other 3 have very small starts of combs. Could I really have gotten so lucky to only have one cockerel and 3 pullets? Or could there be that much variation amongst cockerels at this age? Can you usually reliably sex Barnevelders at this age?
