Sexing Barred rock

    I am wondering if anyone can help sec this chick - I'm thinking it's a cockerel?? It's 4-5 weeks old.

    It is definitely a roo. Pullets will have thicker black barring than grey. Males have thicker grey barring than black. Barred rocks are one of the easiest to sex once the feathers start coming in.

    When can I seperated him from the hen? We can't have roosters where we live and I would rather sell him than the alternative!

    Chicks can be seperated from the hen at any age, they just need to be keeped warm.

    He could go now, he'd just need some supplemental heat at his new home until he feathers out all the way.
