Well, since we are guessing only. The first to photos look off on feather coloring, none of our BC have had that coloration, looks like a barred gene maybe? Boy Girl Girl Boy Boy Keep in mind this is only a guess. Side profile of combs would help.
Hmmm I don't know about the barred coloring. I just picked these up on Tuesday. Saw her flock and they look marvelous. I'll write to the breeder and ask
Quote:I'm just curious what you based your guess on? I'm learning as I go as well If we are guessing, I'm saying the first two are male based on the coloring and the last 3 are hens. I have no clue of course that this is correct, just a WAG
My guess is also the first two being roo's as they color out faster and the others pullets but I am new to this also but my males did color out real fast.
roo pullet pullet roo roo Quote:One of my BC Marans babies was "striped" like that when he first feathered in, but when he molted again at about 10 wks he lost all that and looks like a normal BCM. ETA: I also had a pullet that feathered out w/ copper everywhere when she was little...so you can't always tell by color!

Roo pullet pullet roo roo That isn't barring, but alot of the copper highlight. Hard to know how she will feather out, but my guess is with alot of copper. Good luck!
Thanks Guys! I am hoping for at least a trio and I guess I can use more than one roo since I have eggs coming
