I have heard a lot of people saying do "I have a boy chick?" And I have heard people trying to sex chicks by picking up a chick by the beak. (don't try this!!!!)

Here is what I say. Relax!!! Most hatcheries will give you a credit if they sent boys, but most of the time it is 10 weeks or so after delivery to make sure your chick has all the tale-tale signs. Some feed stores are the same way. So I say relax and enjoy that chick no matter what you have. He won't start to crow for 3 months or so so you can have him in town. and he won't try to mate for a while either.

I know some people want to know because they can only have 3 chickens or so where they live, but little chicks are not chickens, get more than you need,

keep the three you want give extras away.
