I guess as my first post, I should preface a little. I'm a long time chicken owner, but a brand new chick/duckling mom. I currently have two unsexed Barred Cochin chicks. All my other chicks are female (I mean I hope, mix-ups do happen...).

I know how to sex them but I was looking for advice based on appearance. They're only a little over 3 weeks so it maybe too early but there's never a bad time for advice. :love

Welcome, Cochin roosters will often feather out much slower than the pullets. By 5 weeks they will have pink combs where the pullets will remain orange yellow for a bit longer. So you're are too young to tell for sure, but the lack of feathers on yours would make me suspicious. My 3 week old cochins are much more feathered than yours except my rooster who still has only wing feathers. Watch for pink combs in a couple of weeks to know for sure.

Thank you so much. My other barred cochin is much more feathered than the one in original post.

The first one, Lavender, also seems to have a more pronounce comb (should be the third photo attached)
But I guess I have to keep waiting!
Again, thank you
