    I found this:

    http://animalsciences.missouri.edu/reprod/ReproTech/Feathersex/index.htm

What I hadn't realised was that it only works for some breeds. So it didn't work for my Polish Cresteds- wrong for both of them. Not sure about the Australorps- feather sexing said 2 boys 2 girls- just put the pics up now and people think 3 girls, possibly 4. There was a clear difference between the feather lengths when they were tiny to give 2 of each. The final one I tried was BOxRIR- feather sexing said it was female - jury's still out on her!

So if you want to feather sex I'd research what breeds it's meant to work for before you choose what you're going to hatch out.....

I decided it didn't matter really as I couldn't bring myself to cull any day old chicks anyway, we'll decide what to do with the roos when they're bigger.
