We have 18 Rhode Island Reds and we are having trouble sexing them. Any tips to sex our chickens? They're about 5 weeks old. Also, when should our hens start laying eggs and how frequently will they lay?

Hi there:) When sexing watch for large, red combs and wattles, thick legs, pointy saddle feathers and slow feather growth in the males. (Females=opposite.) Around 8-15 weeks roosters will start crowing. Hens will start laying around 4-6 months and RIR hens will lay about every day. Make sure by 18 weeks the birds are eating a 16-18% protein layer feed.
