At what age can you start sexing silkies? I have 3 that are 2 months old. 1 of them is alot bigger then the other 2. I ordered them from Ideal. Is it possible they sent me 2 bantams and 1 standard. Do they even have a standard silkie? Their combs look alot alike. 1 of them is bearded and has a really fluffy head while the others arent so much. Should I post pics? Thanks Krista

If you post pics, be sure to get clear pics of their combs and heads and body over all.

Some silkies can be sexed at like 6 weeks old via reddening of the comb or width of the comb... others can fool you till they lay an egg or crow. It depends on the line and their characteristics. Males will eventually grow some" streamers" on their head puffs, but this can also be debatable on some! Genreally the comb and body size will be larger on males, but if you have chicks of different parents, that might not work either! In the US,they are all considered bantams. They have lots of variations.
