We were all set to invest in some Wheaten Marans for the spring because 1) they lay nice dark eggs like our BCM hen and 2) we had read that you can sex them very early (2-3 wk age). What we'd been told in the past was that they are easy to sex early because the girls are wheat colored and the boys are dark (red/black/etc). However now we are learning that blue wheatens are apparently just as easy to sex... and I'm confused!
So I'd like to hear it from you guys... from your experience, what do YOU know about early sexing of wheatens and/or blue wheatens? Is one easier than the other?
