sexing?

sooo when I did a little research about hatcheries online, I found out that you can tell the sex from the rows of feathers on the wings...girls have two rows, boys have one...large hatcheries use this method, sooo why is it sooo tough for us 'normal folks' to figure it out???

I tried and still am "unsure" seems like it should be such an easy thing...what's wrong with me...does that 'feather' method only work on day one and by day 3 when they are in my hands, it's too late???

Anyone know? Got any 'sexers' on this forum?

That is a strange method. Never heard of it before. I thought they used vent sexing....?

I believe it is only certain breeds that works for. But I could be wrong about that. Your Barred rock shouldn't be too hard to figure out. You can tell by the spot on its head and by the front of the legs.

The darker front legs are pullets. It's a blackish silverish color on the front.
