    what age can u tell the gender of a chicken?

    It depends, sometimes it really comes down to when they lay an egg or grow saddle feathers. Some breeds are late bloomers, like orpingtons. With our BO, he didn't show saddle feathers until about 3 mo, I spent a lot of time online comparing pictures from the moment he was about a month old!

    what breed? try posting pics of them when they are 6 weeks and up. full body, side view of neck and head.

    I was wondering more as a buyer. I am after a cross breed pullet but want one young to have as a family pet and layer. I want to be confident that I am not getting a boy though. roughly what age should i be confident in the breeders sexing of the chicken?
