wooo on the Tolbunt!!!!

Checked mine this morning...nothing. They aren't due until tomorrow. I'm meeting muggs tonight then racing home to check to see if any roosters have pipped. All my early pippers always seem to be roos...so I'll be happy if there are none. Well except for the lav eggs, I need a roo!

LOL you stumped me there for a second--but you know?? that kinda makes sense as I swear all my girls die at hatch time and I get left with the heartier roos!!!

I might mark the first hatchers to see if this guess works haha

Nah, they're ball and chains. They are nice to have around but if you're single and active (by active I mean being spontaneous, coming as going as you please, etc) they can be a real hindrance. I can't tell you how many times while on the bike I had to break away from the crew because Jake had to eat or go outside. I wouldn't get rid of him however I wouldn't replace him if something happened to him. When I was married it was different and easier. One of us was always home and our trips were more planned. I can always drop him off at my mom's for the weekend or have my neighbors let him out when I can't get home but in general he's still a pain in the butt. I'm also and antivaccination person so he can't stay at a kennel. The local dog sitter charges $20 a trip to come care for him. That's $40 to $60 a day.

When I was married we had 3 dogs. Sandy, Jake, and Jenny. Jenny belonged to a friend who passed suddenly. She was 17 when I brought her home and 19 when I had to put her down. Sandy was our first dog, more me formers spouse's mutt. My X abandoned her here but I found her a good home a year later. That left Jake, MY DAWG. He stayed because well, he's mine and he's Jake.

The chickens can go 3 days between feeding and watering and I have friends in town who would chickensit if needed.

Dude, and you're thinking about having kids???? Try and view Jake as a dress rehearsal for kids.

I view mine as my best friends and family. I enjoy doing things with them. They are sadly mourned when they pass. But then I spend a great deal of time with them training and showing, so maybe the bond I have with them is stronger than yer average Joe.

eta you bring poor Jake with you ya butt! He can keep you warm in your pillow fort in the car so I won't have to haul your azz inside. We always bring extra crates if you need one. If you brushed him hw wouldn't shed on your stuff. hmph
