I saw the bird tonight, the eye was not bubbling, the lid is closed and the actual eye ball is all white if you pull the lid open. But when it first started about 2 wks ago it had a discharge and was never treated. No more discharge but seems no more sight either. But it's holding it own. Running around looking for hideouts, stealing food when it can. Ugh!...is it worth it? My head says one thing and my heart another!!

Just gonna have to decide if it's worth the risk...

Maybe, do you have a neighbor or friend who doesn't have chickens who'd be willing to host it for you for a bit? Til you can tell for sure if it's infectious or not?

Also, listen carefully for respiratory sounds... any rattles or wheezing is a huge flag... and runny nares...

Not sure if these are the ones I posted, but here's a few of her, taken a couple of weeks ago. Not SQ, just pets. But I think she's lovely.

This is kinda random, and kinda relevant. Are Black Australorps derived from Black Orpingtons? (Derived maybe isn't the best word. Oh well)

    She's beautiful! :)

Yes, Orps were used in creating Aussies... can't remember what else was used too...

Ok thanks. And are they as great an egg layer as I've heard?

    Are those lavender Australorps? Pretty!
