She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

You have a hen that screams like a peacock? There's an old cure for that, but it works. Dig a deep hole in the ground in your cellar that she can't get out of, then put her in the hole and turn the lights out. Drop skin lotion to her in a bucket on a rope. Make her put the lotion on. If she doesn't do it, then spray her down with a hose until she does. If after two weeks of this she won't stop screaming, then you make a lamp :thumbsup

Haha very funny. She's one of my favorites, so no, she will not be lowered into a hole.

I'm sort of regretting this whole peachick experience. I didn't realize what "imprint" really entails. These chicks are getting BIG. I've been putting them in a cage outside of the chicken run for a week. Trying to let them interact with other birds. Well yesterday I put them in the actual run. They stayed at my feet, starring up at me, crying. I told them go make friends & threw a bunch of worms on the ground. No luck. Then they were all riled up when I brought them inside for bed. Pacing the cage in a panic. I opened the door to the cage and sat on the couch to see what they wanted. All 3 of them flew out of the cage. One landed on each shoulder and the last one flew right on top of my head! I felt like Ace Ventura! They definitely have identity issues. And they make me feel a nut case! Feeling guilty about getting rid of them but don't know how much longer I can deal with this insanity.

You think that's rough? And you want imprinted Calls??

Wait til you have this

screaming the house down because you dared to think you could go pee by yourself... :lau

Don't you fret. Who else can I speak chicken too? Everyone here probably thinks I am a lunatic. They are just too polite to say. Trouble is I never do anything by halves. I will probably post a blow by blow account. My nickname is chicken or chicken monkey. Has anyone ever seen a chicken monkey.
If anyone is wondering, this is it.

Prime example of why we should be scared of GMO!

Well Im a first timer here…Set my 24 eggs in a Janoel 24 on Friday night, 7/31( it was actually 1:30am on Aug 1)…Temperature has been rather easy to regulate and keep steady after the first day, however the humidity fluctuates a lot - lowest at 22% and highest at about 55%. The exact amount of water I am putting is half the squirt bottle in one of the channels of the bottom tray.

Any suggestions as to how to better achieve a more consistent humidity?

Have 12 Buff Orpingtons eggs and 12 high noon leiper eggs in there…Hoping for the best…...
What Amy said about the sponges! In the beginning, averaging, IMO is what it's all about, until you figure out what works best for you.

Thank you WV. will keep trying other methods, maybe putting the same amount of water but half in one channel and other half in the other.
That would only make it worse b/c of more surface area. I'm happy when using water if I bounce between 11 and 40%! With sponges, it's very easy to maintain 25 - 35%.

Nooooooooooooooo!!!! No LG!!! Not the 9300!!!!!. A good cast iron skillet would be much cheaper.
Seriously, that incubator is horrible. It has been beaten to death on this thread. What is your budget? Don't buy the one that you can get today just because it is convenient. You will regret it in the long run. If you do a trial of Amazon Prime for free, you can get virtually any incubator in 2 days. Buy the best you can afford, it's worth it. For styro, I highly recommend Hovabator

Re: skillet. Or, you can get a fantastic digital thermostat in the same 2 days and make a super duper incubator for less than $30!

Which one is the "death trap"? I would like to keep the price tag under $100. A broody duck would probably work better but I dont have one

It's a known fact that 2 people on this thread scare me. Friday and Walnut

Do tell! Why????????

I get mad every time I hear the 9300 mentioned. They are so available, and the worst incubator on the market. There's no telling how many people actually buy them, have dismal hatches, then give up. I think BYC should file a class action against TSC

Might want to add their old stale feed to that CA.

I prefer FFH to TSC. I have gotten more & better advice from FFH. Their department employees actually have chickens & ducks or lots of experience with them. At TSC I get oh I dont have chickens / ducks or its been so long since I had them I dont remember.
FFH??? What's that? All we have is TSC and Blue Seal. Still have to argue about feed at Blue Seal, b/c they claim that I'll kill my chicks if I give them unmedicated feed. Haven't killed a chick yet, and they now stock unmedicated!!! Must be a lot of dead chicks running around out there!

I've never eaten one. Are they worth the effort? They are so tiny!
I hear you can use the drumsticks for a tooth pick after the meal.

Then try putting her in the car and drive her into the woods while playing "Hurdy Gurdy Man"
:/ nah, I don't think so. She's one of my favorites, because when she was a chick something happened to her eyesight, and I helped her through it, so she's super sweet. Her name's Hellen Keller.
So is the screaming fine? Nothing's wrong with her?
