I offered my ducks shelter to help protect them for the wind, rain, and snow but they don't want it[IMG]..They are fat, have thick down, and a waterproof coat so why would they need shelter? They spend the night in a double dog run but seem to prefere to stay in the open. I think they like to see what's going on around them at night. Anyways they do use the shelter for shade in the summer.

If they are protected from predators, they may be okay - but some ducks don't always do what's best for themselves. I would monitor conditions and herd them in if needed.

Peas help, long poles can help (don't poke them, just extend the poles and they move away from them).

I used to have to hold a pole horizontally to herd the ducks into their shelter.

When my ducks had babies and I needed to make a new house I made it outdoorsy as possible since they hated going into a house. They love it now. It's in a fully inclosed run. The sides are half wood half hardwood cloth also
