About a month ago we had a stray Chukar discover our home in NH. We're guessing he got loose from someone's property and so far, has adopted us. He sleeps around our house, under bushes, comes up in our porch, seems pretty tame. I've been feeding him meal worms and a wild birdseed mix. I'm wondering how he will fair in NH winters. We plan on building him some sort of insulated box to get out of the weather, but will this be good enough ?
Welcome to BYC! I don't have any experience with quail, so I'm afraid I can't help there. I would be concerned about predators, especially in the winter, if there isn't some sort of enclosed coop for night time.
