My little Hazel EE started laying a couple of weeks ago and since then has laid a large, sage green egg 5 days out of 6. She's also, IMO, a very pretty girl. She was brutally attacked by a hawk yesterday and while the hawk got nothing but feathers, it did pull quite a handful out of her back plus 5 tail feathers. Hazel smoothed her feathers out as best as she could and laid her egg today like nothing happened. I just love that little bird! And a big for Clark the mild-mannered EE cockerel who fearlessly attacked the hawk and sent it packing! I didn't know he had it in him!
