Should I attempt to sex my barnyard mixes?

These fools will hatch eggs in the middle of winter. I had a hen last year hatch 2 chicks on Christmas Eve setting on the cold ground under a trash can.

I'm telling you, I lost 3 peahens on nests this breeding season to predators and my gamehen walks out of the woods with 15 chicks in tow.

I see I'm very off topic from sexing now but I do really wanna talk about my flock and what to reasonably expect. :/
I've already established that my roos are not as aggressive as pure gamecocks because no ones killed each other yet - unless they're just not old enough for that yet. they squabble for pecking order but the loser backs down (except for Tim. dont be like Tim)
my two main mommas are full game, but everyone newer than that is at least part orpington (alpha is half and half)
... so I dunno.
I like that they take good care of themselves but if they really are that shitty at eggs...idk.

I know all about it. If you had straight gamefowl they’re even worse. I only keep one full grown rooster loose at a time if that so I know what the chicks are but usually I swap the eggs for known eggs because other game hens will lay in the same nest. So....you could end up with all mixed up chicks even if they look the same.
What I do is collect eggs from a breeding pen then swap the hen who is loose setting on eggs with what I want her to hatch. They do all the work and I get the birds I want. No BS incubators, no curled toes, no inbred mess and no health problems.

If they’re mixed like you think. You can’t sex them yet accurately.
I keep layers for eggs to eat.

Yeah I'm solid on the no sexing thing now. It was just a curiosity.

You mean you have a separate flock of a layer breed?
