Should I be worried?

I just found one of our seemingly healthy chickens dead. How worried should I be about the other girls? She was laying, running around the coop with the other girls yesterday. Is it something I should watch and make sure the others are ok but then again nothing seemed off with her.

Sorry for your loss. Chickens can die of many different things, including heart, liver, and kidney problems. If you haven't already buried her, I would look her body over (or refrigerate her in a plastic bag until you can do it tomorrow.) Look at the crop for impaction, check her vent with a rubber glove for a stuck egg, look for lice and mite eggs, any soiling of her vent that would mean diarrhea, and if you are up to it , try doing a necropsy. If you can, send her refrigerated body off to your state vet for a necropsy. Here is a great link for necropsy and for info in finding your state vet: http://partnersah.vet.cornell.edu/veterinarians/avian-necropsy-examination
