ChickenPerson- Nope these little guys are white silkies. The guy I bought them from bred all white silkies. Their parents are so pretty :)

I'm glad i got them too :) Now I just have to get another pen together for them and maybe some other bantam buddies in the future :) I'm so excited for them to grow up and hatch their own babies too. Ive never hatched eggs before so this will be completely new to me..of course I got to let these little ones grow up first and hopefully I'll have a rooster..and if i have 2 roosters I guess thatll be an excuse to buy more pullets :)

I have 2 silkies and they are so cute they are only about a month old. Its so easy to pick them out with their feathery feet

Their names are peas and sassy. I can't wait ill they grow up but then again they are so cute as chicks too!

Silkies are almost impossible to sex under three months old.... Even with people who breed them. Something that helps but is not always accurate is by looking at the comb. If you slick back their fuzz and run your finger over their comb area and feel a bump, then possibly it's a boy. Many girls keep a nice smooth flat comb area for longer. Also I notice a lot of boys have thicker legs and feet and their extra toes come out longer and more stick like than in many girls..... Other than that, as chicks, it's a guess.

Is this why I only see silkies offered in straight run? Are they not able to be vent sexed?

I'm sure they can be vent sexed like other chicks... Just not many people,do it.
Silkies do best when housed with other Silkies, so I would make them their own coop. They have vaulted skulls, which has a hole in the skull. If pecked in the head by larger birds or another very aggressive Silkie, then brain damage etc.. can occur.
Selling price depends on your area. Many people want hens, if you are prepared to sell thens hens seperate, then yes it's easier to sell. If you don't mind selling roosters for food or what ever else, many cultures like them for their dark skin, meat and bones.....
I however am a wuss and try and find pet homes for all mine, so I don't make a lot of profit off them.
