Should I buy these silkie babies??

Are you building it? What I did was make sort of like a dog house but bigger and put a ramp out the side of it on to the grass. Then I made a fence around it so they have room to run around. So at night I can put them back in the coop.

If you're making it out of plywood or similar I would think you could add a few different "slots" to drop in dividers as you see fit...they could be mesh dividers or solid plywood just slipping between wooden slats that you nail on the walls - you can adjust depending on the number of birds and you could just put hardware cloth over the whole top in a couple different lift-off lids to allow access. Or you wanted a portion to have mesh walls too?

It seems you could make a third or a half as your "brooder" area and then have lift-out dividers that can open up to the rest.

I wish we were doing this - sadly we're probably not adding birds for a few years as we don't really have the space outside. If we had more land we could certainly be getting more...and letting our silkies be mommas.

Yeah what you said is pretty similar to hat i want to do im just not exactly sure how big it should be...We have 7 acres here so as long as we have the money to put up the pens i can have as many as i want

they really dont eat that much surprisingly. they have gotten some more feathers on their wings though and have started "roosting" on top of their feeder
