Should I put some nests boxes outside their house?

I'm planning on building a rather small house for my future ducks. I also prefer if the ducks raise some ducklings. I've read that ducks prefer to build their nests in a secluded area. It came to my mind that the inside of the duck house might not seem very "secluded" to my ducks, since all the other ducks will be there! So would it be a good idea to put one or two nest boxes in other places in the duck run? The entire run will of course be predator proof.

I don't think cold will be an issue, since ducks mostly nest in the spring, when it's above freezing here.

You can plan on putting a few more in or a brooder area. Mine don't lay in the nice nest area I built them. So you can build, just can't guarantee they will use it. Try the fake eggs when you start.

    We love watching our ducks.

How would one go about making a "brooder area"? :)

Let me guess: You try and make an area as "cozy" as possible; secluded; hidden; roofed; covered on two or three sides; with a soft bottom substrate?
