Should I worry about this blood on the egg today?

My girls are 5 months old. One of the EEs this morning gave me an egg with blood on the shell...like she musta had a hard time passing it. Im not sure which one it was but they appear to be acting normally and I dont see any external evidence of blood. Should I be concerned? They have been laying about 10 days now I think.

she may have some tearing or Hemorrhoid type action going on...I would keep an eye on them to make sure none is bleeding into their poop...and watch for prolapse around the vent.....If you see in, you can give them a warm epsom salt bath, and use Prep H on them (honey on the vent works too) then just push it back inside.

IMO, nothing to worry about in a fairly new layer.

This is very normal in young hens just starting to lay, just keep an eye on them. I've never had to doctor any.

Quote:Agreed. Probably nothing to worry about, just adjusting to a new thing. Keep an eye on her anyway, but it's pretty typical.

My JG just laid a tiny egg last night and there was a tiny bit of blood on it. I figured it was normal and I'm betting yours is too. I do feel bad for the girls though!
